Pop Quiz: Traditions Edition
From 1916 to 2001, first-year students turned to the M Book to figure out how to register for classes, learn the code of conduct and generally get a handle on the University of Maryland. For the second year, the M Book is back for first-year students, imparting wisdom about UMD past and present. To celebrate the M Book’s return, we’re testing your knowledge of a now-gone UMD tradition. |
What were the terms for the beanies that first-year students were required to wear from the 1910s through the 1960s? |
- “Rat caps” (for men) and “rabbit caps” (for women)
- “Mouse caps” (for men) and “squirrel caps” (for women)
- “Groundhog caps” (for men) and “chipmunk caps” (for women)
- “Grasshopper caps” (for men) and “butterfly caps” (for women)
- “Gopher caps” (for men) and “otter caps” (for women)
Three Terps who respond correctly will win a copy of the M Book.
