F
ellow Terps,

I am constantly amazed at just how easy it is to see the world today. Modern technology makes distant lands incredibly accessible. With a click of a mouse, images of beautiful landscapes, historic sites and famed landmarks can be summoned to your computer screen.

But no matter how highly advanced your search engine or how large your monitor, the best way to see the world is through travel. On behalf of the Maryland Alumni Association, I invite you to step away from your computer to see the places you’ve researched firsthand.

Our travel program gives you the opportunity to explore a medieval castle in Chianti, Italy; follow the footsteps of Peter the Great through Russia; cruise the Amazon in South America; and examine cathedral paintings by 17th-century artist Peter Paul Rubens in Belgium. Each trip is led by an experienced guide, ready to quench your thirst for knowledge of the past and introduce you to the region“s society and culture today.

Explore our 2007 tours on the following pages, or visit our Web site. If you’ve ever longed to see the gothic cathedrals of France, or imagined sitting in the Roman Colloseum, then an alumni association tour is for you. I can assure you from personal experience that short of teleporter, there’s no easier way to travel.

Sincerely,

Danita D. Nias ’81
